The Detention and Exclusion Management System (DEMS) comprises three photocopiable books for use with students who are to be detained or excluded. DEMS has been designed so the tasks set are of sound educational merit, easy to perform but time consuming. The worksheets are designed for use without teacher intervention. To relieve the burden on teachers, the worksheets are easy to correct.The Exclusion Worksheets for Less Able Students (Standard Edition) Book 1 contains ten days of worksheets for lower school students. The subjects are: English, Geography, History, Science, Religion, Mathematics, Technology and Food.The Exclusion Worksheets for More Able Students (Higher Edition) Book 2 contains ten days of worksheets for higher school students in: English, Geography, History, Science, Religion, Mathematics, French and Spanish. There is approximately one hour’s work in each worksheet.The Detention Worksheets (Book 3) are for both higher and lower school students. Again, the tasks are easy to perform but time consuming. Counteracting negative responsesStudents often see ‘punishment exercises’ in a negative light. To counteract this implicit negativity, we have included a ‘Student Feedback Sheet’, to be photocopied and given to the student when the worksheets are completed and marked.
